AUI Gives Back – Act # 43 Sponsorship of the Race to Rise event in Wadsworth

50 Years 50 Acts of Serivce, AUI Gives Back, Blog

AUI was proud to be a sponsor of the event for Race to Rise in conjunction with the Wadsworth Amateur Soccer Association.  It is a meaningful community initiative aimed at supporting and celebrating mental health awareness and wellness. Organized by Main Street Wadsworth and various local partners, the event typically includes activities such as a 5K race, fun run, and other family-friendly activities designed to engage participants of all ages. Proceeds from the event often benefit local charities and programs that focus on mental health advocacy and support.

Held in the scenic setting of downtown Wadsworth, the event serves as both a fundraiser and a rallying point to emphasize the importance of mental health care, destigmatization, and accessible resources. Participants, local businesses, and volunteers come together in a show of solidarity and community spirit. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, Race to Rise is a testament to Wadsworth’s commitment to health, wellness, and community.

Raising Money for Wadsworth Amateur Soccer Association:

This year, the event also raised money to secure vital AED’s for the Wadsworth soccer Fields. With the help of Paramedic Rachel Rexroad, owner of Learn CPR in Wadsworth, and Dave Fritzsche, owner of Saveheart located in Chicago IL, Wadsworth Amateur Soccer Association was able to secure three AED units at Muhl Park. Every season, WASA parents sign a waiver acknowledging our understanding of the risks related to sudden cardiac arrest, however the city does not have AED’s present. WASA coaches and parents wanted to take the waiver a step further and invest in our organization, the community and the people at Muhl Fields safety by purchasing life saving AED machines, with help from Rachel.

Local and community donations helped secure three AED units and 3 towers. The first unit was installed on the building on Oct 7, 2024. WASA, a 501c3, is currently in communication with the city on the installation of the remaining towers. WASA raised over $13,000 to ensure that our parks are safe for everyone, for all seasons of soccer.
