The teams of ClarityHR and AUI joined Love Akron for the 13th Annual Awards Event. The event took place at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron on September 24th, 2024. They honored several men and women in the Akron community who work diligently to bridge the divide of culture, faith and congregations through faith and service. We were proud to be a sponsor and sit at a table with the football team of Akron’s North High School.
Teens from across the region joined us at the event as part of the Locker Room Experience, unlocking your potential program. Our group of young men were wonderful to talk with at the event. We learned about where they played on the football field and where they want to go when they graduate.

The goal of the program is to build trust with at risk youth who are increasingly subject to violent crime, gun possession and even death. A trend no one wants to continue. Through this unique program teens are paired with mentors. Studies have shown that doing so is an effective way of preventing teens from falling into the cycle of crime and violence.

Established in 1995 Love Akron was created by Pastor Mark Ford, Pastor Knute Larson & Rev. Dr. Ron Fowler. The humble beginning started with a prayer service between the two church leaders. Their hope was that it would grow into a city-wide prayer movement. Today, Love Akron is led by Executive Director Kemp Boyd. Mr. Boyd is committed to empowering others in the Greater Akron area to thrive. The most important tool that Mr. Boyd discussed at the Love Akron Annual Awards Event was listening. Listening to others helps us understand what different groups of people experience. We don’t have to always see eye to eye to listen.
The Love Akron team invites all people in the Akron community to join them at any of their community events. Some of them include Love Akron Connect, bringing people from the greater Akron to build relationships, serve, pray, and encourage one another to live out their faith. There is also the 306 INITIATIVE which focuses on raising awareness for the need of foster parents in the Akron community.
