AUI Gives Back – Act #11 Chrissy Myers Finishes Her Service to the Jobs for Ohio Graduates (JOG) Board

50 Years 50 Acts of Serivce, AUI Gives Back, Blog

For the past several years we have worked with Jobs for Ohio Graduates. As a board member Chrissy Myers served to help champion their mission to break down multiple barriers to help students complete their education, and transition to positions in the community that provide a livable wage.  Or to help candidates with secondary job training to re-enter the workforce with the skills that they need to thrive in a local company.

Serving on the board since 2018 has been a tremendous honor.  While Chrissy is stepping down from her position, she and the team at AUI and ClarityHR will continue to support JOG with their mission to promote local talent with great Ohio companies.  We believe that every business should consider hiring JOG program graduates to their team.

The Mission of Jobs for Ohio Graduates:

Since 1987, Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates helps youth with multiple barriers to success complete their education and successfully transition to employment at a livable wage or post-secondary job training.

Since their inception, JOG has helped over 30,000 at-risk youth transition into the workforce in Ohio.  Annually they help more than one-thousand young adults transition from school to work in Northeast, Ohio.  With a success rate that is higher than many traditional schooling programs, JOG graduates had a 93% rate for graduating from high school, and an 84% success rate for full-time employment.

The Vision for Jobs for Ohio Graduates:

To be a highly visible, sector leader, and known as a “one-stop success shop” offering a holistic continuum of guidance, leadership development, social services, graduation, and employment opportunities to prepare the next generation of in-school and out-of-school youth, ages 14-24, for success at work, at home and as leaders in their communities.

Help with the JOG Endurance Fund:

Youth between the ages of 16-24 often are faced with immediate needs that are beyond the traditional JOG programs offered.  To help support students as they go through the programs with JOG they have created the Endurance Fund to support participants with housing issues, transportation, infant supplies, food, utilities, uniforms and more. Success comes when your basic needs are met.  If you would like to support at-risk youth bettering their lives through JOG programs, consider supporting the Endurance Fund HERE.

Volunteer with JOG

Like every non-profit organization JOG is always looking for volunteers to help in various ways of supporting their mission.  Today, not everyone can give money, but often there is more to gain from our time.  Contact JOG if you are interested in learning about volunteer opportunities HERE.
